At least 84 people were killed and several others were seriously injured Thursday when a suspected terrorist drove a large truck into a crowd that had gathered for a Bastille Day fireworks display in the southern French city of Nice.
Witnesses said a truck plowed through people who gathered to watch fireworks and drove onto the sidewalk for more than a mile. French officials have not yet confirmed who was behind the attack or why they did it.
It was reported throughout the evening that the man had a truck the truck loaded with weapons and hand grenades. Security Forces confirmed that the truck only contained an “inactive” grenade as well as “several fake weapons.”
