Leaders from the Asia Pacific Region were busy once again “expressing deep concern” over ballistic missiles fired Monday by North Korea. We all know that Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s “supreme leader,” has demonstrated a propensity for stomping his feet and having tantrums when he wants attention. Kim fired the missiles within hours of a meeting between Chinese and South Korean officials during the G20 Summit. He was likely upset with China, whom he considers a friend, for talking behind his back to South Korea. While his bad-boy behavior might not seem so worrisome on the surface, what is worrisome is the fact that most of his toys are nuclear. Perhaps it’s time to do something besides “express concern.”
