(UnitedVoice.com) – US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents in Laredo, TX, have been hard at work keeping up security. Last week, they broke up several people-smuggling operations, apprehending more than a hundred illegal immigrants in just 30 hours. From October 21-22 the Laredo sector carried out multiple operations and found illegals in houses, trains and vehicles.

In a written statement, Laredo CBP said smugglers were transporting people in appalling conditions. In one case, 16 people were crammed into a vehicle so tightly they were stacked in layers and those at the bottom could hardly breathe. Migrants in stash houses were also being kept packed closely together, and there was no sign of masks or other measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The migrants came from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and other South American countries.
Laredo CBP has scored a series of major successes against smugglers this month; on October 9, they found over a hundred people locked inside the “dangerously cold” interior of a refrigerator trailer.
With illegal immigration running at such high levels, the need for better border security has never been more obvious.
