Daniel Foley, who retrieved the body of his own brother, Tommy, almost two weeks after the attack, just died from pancreatic cancer. The illness was directly linked to his involvement as a rescue worker after 9/11.
Foley wasn’t initially part of Rescue Company 3, the company that his previously-missing brother had belonged to. However, he eventually transferred there in the aftermath of 9/11 and worked with the company for several years. Rescue Company 3 lost 11 of its members during the attack on our nation.
Brave and honorable individuals, like Daniel Foley, continue to suffer from the aftermath of the brutal terrorist attack. Grief and illness are still with those survivors today, and Foley’s death is a reminder of the great sacrifice they made for all of us.
