The Alabama Human Life Protection Act, which was signed into law on May 15, will not be going into effect next month as originally planned.
BREAKING: We just blocked Alabama's abortion ban.
With this federal court ruling, it's official: None of the state abortion bans passed earlier this year are in effect.
Abortion remains legal in all 50 states.

The ACLU announced on Tuesday that the US District Court in Alabama granted an injunction so that the abortion ban can not become law until all the court cases have been finished. The ACLU and Planned Parenthood of Alabama filed a lawsuit challenging the ban in May.
Both organizations claim that the new law is illegal and unconstitutional. When asked about the ban Dr. Leana Wen, President of Planned Parenthood said:
“This dangerous, immoral, and unconstitutional ban threatens people’s lives and well-being and we are suing to protect our patient’s rights. The facts are on our side, the public is on our side, and we will do whatever it takes to ensure women across Alabama can receive the health care they need today, tomorrow, and beyond.”
