Top US diplomat to Ukraine, Bill Taylor, has announced that he is leaving his post by December 30th, according to insider reports.
Under his current contract, Taylor could have stayed longer. Some people think this is related to his recent testimony in the impeachment inquiry. During the testimony, it came out that Taylor had texted the ambassador to the EU that it was “crazy to withhold security assistance for help with a political campaign.”
Ukraine has not had a permanent ambassador since May when Marie Yovanovitch was fired from her position. Taylor has been serving as acting ambassador since he was never confirmed by the Senate.
He had previously served as the US Ambassador to Ukraine when George W. Bush was president.
