(UnitedVoice.com) – Several Democrats have switched their political affiliation over the last year. The Dem Exit isn’t great for the party going into the 2024 election. Now, another longtime member of the party has bid it adieu.
On July 20, former New York Assemblyman Dov Hikind announced he and his wife had left the Democratic Party and joined the GOP. The longtime liberal served the party for nearly 30 years in the Empire State before retiring and becoming an activist for the Jewish community. He accused the Democratic Party of “turn[ing] their backs on Jews [and] Israel.”
IT’S OFFICIAL: My wife and I have switched our party affiliation from Democrat to Republican!
Ppl have long been asking, “Dov, when are you gonna leave the Democratic Party?”
Well, the time has come bc the Dems have turned their back on Jews & Israel, so it’s officially done! pic.twitter.com/VAlGaaALDO

Hikind went on to say that the current party is “so radicalized” that those with moderate views are no longer allowed in the party. He claimed President Joe Biden has turned his back on Israel with “policy after policy.” The former assemblyman said it took him a long time, but he’s decided registering as a Republican is the right thing to do. His wife joined him in saying she thought it was the best decision for them to make.
In recent years, the Left has begun condemning Israel’s government for its settlements in the West Bank. Some have called it an apartheid state, accusing it of targeting those who are not Jewish. Biden hasn’t even invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to the White House since he recently returned to power.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), a prominent far-left Democrat, has repeatedly expressed views the Jews have said are anti-Semitic, and she isn’t the only one. Other members of the so-called “Squad” have repeated similar opinions. Meanwhile, the party leaders have done little to stop the alleged bigotry.
In addition to Hikind, Senator Kirsten Sinema (I-AZ) has also left the party. She joined the Independent Party. Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard disavowed the Democratic Party, too, echoing Hikind and accusing the Left of using anti-religious language.
