(UnitedVoice.com) – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) is one of the most controversial lawmakers in Congress. The New York Democrat is a loud progressive who has made a name for herself by trying to move the country to the far left. Now, she’s under investigation.
On December 7, the House Ethics Committee announced AOC, as people call her, is under investigation for possible ethics violations. The announcement did not provide any details about the case against the congresswoman, only saying the Office of Congressional Ethics transmitted a notice about possible violations on June 23, 2022.

According to Business Insider, AOC’s appearance at the Met Gala in 2021 might have spurred the ethics probe. The congresswoman attended the star-studded event, wearing a custom Brother Vellies ivory dress that had “Tax the Rich” scrawled across it in red writing. The American Accountability Foundation filed a complaint against the Democrat for accepting gifts by attending the event.
Craig Holman, a lobbyist with Public Citizen, told the outlet that whether or not she violated a rule would depend on who purchased her ticket for the event.
The Ethics Committee stated that a referral doesn’t mean the congresswoman did anything wrong. It just means there will be a probe. It’s unclear when the committee will complete the investigation.
Ocasio-Cortez’s office issued a statement to USA TODAY that they are “confident that this matter will be dismissed.”
