Authoritarian Biden Threatens Governors and the Constitution

Authoritarian Biden Threatens Governors and the Constitution

( – On Thursday, September 9, President Joe Biden issued one of the most frightening and bone-chilling threats in modern US history. If he follows through, the consequences could be deep and long-lasting. It’s also exactly the type of action Democrats falsely accused Donald Trump of taking; yet, they are conspicuously silent when their guy actually does it.

It’s still hard to believe the words came out of a president’s mouth. What did he say? He said if Republican governors won’t do as Democrats, i.e., himself, demands, he would use his “power as president to get them out of the way.” Exactly how does he propose to perform such a dastardly deed? What power of the US Constitution will he call on to do such a thing? On this issue, there shouldn’t be any partisanship. The only thing anyone should hold to is their loyalty to the Constitution.

Talk About Authoritarianism

Biden continues to suggest that if Congress doesn’t act according to his will, he’ll do whatever he wants by executive order. The courts continually overturn his overreach and lawless actions, but that’s not stopping him. This president acknowledges no accountability to the judicial branch and repeatedly throws federalism, as expressed through the separation of powers, out the window. The US Constitution is full of federalist principles. Not only does separation of powers exist within the federal government, but the 10th Amendment also separates the federal government from the states. Whatever the Constitution does not explicitly grant to the federal government belongs to the 50 states. The federal government has little jurisdiction over the governors.

Don’t tell that to Biden. His speech wasn’t about helping people. What he did in a few brief seconds was overstep the US Constitution and declare he would nullify the orders of duly elected state governments.

It’s still worse — if that’s possible. Biden’s reckless statement represents the values of the Democratic Party today. The Left believes it holds all the answers to America’s problems, many of which it created. It thinks it’s the sole authority from Alaska to Florida and Maine to California, and the power is centralized in Washington, DC, and the Oval Office.

“We Will Fight Them to the Gates of Hell”

Biden may think he’s the supreme leader, but GOP governors say he has another thing coming to him. In perhaps the strongest worded statement, South Carolina Republican Gov. Henry McMaster noted Biden turned the American dream into a nightmare. “They have declared war against capitalism, thumbed their noses at the Constitution, and empowered our enemies abroad. Rest assured, we will fight them to the gates of hell to protect the liberty and livelihood of every South Carolinian.”

Twelve GOP governors said they would vehemently oppose Biden’s rule to force businesses to act as his vaccine police or face stiff penalties. Most said they support vaccination efforts, but they don’t support Biden crossing boundaries that threaten the Constitution. You can expect nearly half or more of the states led by GOP governors or attorneys general to file lawsuits to fight Biden’s reckless rhetoric in the hours and days ahead.

In this time of purposeful hostility and division, Conservatives must win the battle, but not with heated rhetoric, acts of malice or coerciveness. We can’t allow ourselves to devolve into the tactics of the Left. Instead, we must educate ourselves through the lessons of history and logic to overcome through the power of persuasion.

There’s a lot of work ahead of us as Conservatives. We can only overcome this threat by sticking together and not abandoning our countrymen.
