(UnitedVoice.com) – As Democratic nominee Joe Biden attempted to paint a bleak picture of America under President Trump on Thursday, August 28, his memory went afoul.
Apparently, the former vice president doesn’t believe any racially-charged events occurred under the watch he shared with former President Barack Obama. In an interview with MSNBC, Biden said there weren’t any racial riots during Obama’s second term.
Except, that’s not true.
In 2014, the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO, triggered widespread protests and violence. It got so bad that Gov. Jay Nixon (R) had to call in the National Guard to restore peace and order.
Brown was shot when he assaulted and tried to steal Police Officer Darren Wilson’s gun. This followed him assaulting a store clerk and stealing merchandise.
Later in the year, Nixon had to call in the National Guard again when riots broke out after a grand jury determined the police officer acted in self-defense and did not indict him.
Not even six months later, riots broke out again in Baltimore, after Freddy Gray died in police custody. Similarly, the National Guard was activated to assist police in bringing order back to the city. It was the first time in 50 years Maryland activated the National Guard for a civil disturbance.
Biden’s memory fade comes a few days after Trump suggested tongue-in-cheek that drug tests should be administered before debates. The president questioned why Biden was so crisp and remembered things so easily after struggling in previous debates.
