Doubling DOWN – Biden Just Showed Us Who He Really Is
(UnitedVoice.com) – Over the last decade, some Democrats have had extremely divisive language problems. In 2008, Barack Obama angered conservative voters, saying they “cling to guns or religion.” In 2016, Hillary Clinton increased the rhetoric by referring to supporters of former President Donald Trump as “irredeemable” and “deplorable.” In spring 2021, President Joe Biden said GOP election reform laws were Jim Crow and insinuated Republicans were racist. As if it wasn’t bad enough, he’s taking it to the next level by calling Americans one of the worst names possible.
On Thursday night, August 25, the president spoke before the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in Rockville, Maryland. Two months before the midterm elections, Biden aggressively stated all “MAGA Republicans” were extremists. He labeled them “semi-fascists.” How does this unite America?
The Great Unifier Falls From Grace — Again
Throughout the 2020 presidential campaign, the then-Democratic candidate promised voters he would be everything he claimed President Donald Trump was not — a unifier. He even repeated the refrain in his inaugural address on January 20, 2021. Yet, he’s been a highly polarizing figure. Some even suggest his assertion that MAGA Republicans are “semi-fascist” was a savage attack.
Biden said the stakes are high this November. Alluding to abortion rights, he claimed the GOP wants to strip Americans of personal rights and economic security. The president called the Grand Old Party a threat to democracy and said they refused the people’s will in the 2020 election without recognizing the obvious — he’s in office, and Trump is not. Additionally, the commander-in-chief failed to point out what Democrats did throughout the 2020 and 2021 COVID-19 pandemic. They shuttered church doors in violation of the US Constitution, locked people in their homes for months, and restricted many Americans’ ability to work while they marched with Black Lives Matter protestors.
Earlier in the day, the head of the Democratic Party claimed the entire philosophy of America First and Make America Great Again was semi-fascist. Yet, does Biden even know what that means?
Is this just harsh campaign season rhetoric, or is there more to it?
Democrats Create Harsh Rhetoric for Political Advantage
Biden’s definition is anyone supporting Trump or voting for America-First policies is not a traditional conservative Republican. They’re MAGA Republicans. Yet, President Ronald Reagan used MAGA as part of his election platform in 1980.
On Friday, a Washington Post opinion writer blasted the president for his accusation. Henry Olson argued fascism is a classic 20th-century political philosophy denouncing liberal democracy. He noted fascists believe multiparty democracy weakens a country and capitalism is exploitative and a waste of energy. In short, yesterday, Nazi Germany was fascist. Today, it’s China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea, among others.
Olson argued that MAGA Republicans say America’s democracy is under attack and needs saving. They are against a growing government capturing more power. That’s not fascism.
On Sunday, NBC’s Peter Alexander said Biden’s words might fire up the base. Still, it destroys his argument that he’s a unifier.
So, apparently, even some in the liberal media see his statement as extremely polarizing campaign rhetoric. Why else would he offend 74 million Americans who voted for Trump in 2020?
