Border Patrol Officers Heading to Sanctuary Cities

Border Patrol Officers Heading to Sanctuary Cities

( – In an attempt to keep American citizens safe when their local lawmakers fail, the Trump administration has announced it will be sending elite teams of Border Patrol officers to self-proclaimed sanctuary cities.

Sanctuary Cities

A sanctuary city is a city (or sometimes county/state) that has decided to protect illegal immigrants and not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. When this started, most cities said they would only protect immigrants who committed low-level crimes and turn over anyone who had committed a more serious offense. This has proven time and time again to be untrue as American citizens continue to be victims of violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants who should have been turned over to ICE.

Violent Crimes

There are 10 sanctuary states and more than 175 sanctuary counties/cities in the United States, and every single one of them is more dangerous because of this.

New York

New York officials have been releasing immigrants with violent histories instead of turning them over to ICE. One of the people set free, Reeaz Khan, ended up allegedly murdering a 92-year-old woman after a detainer against him was ignored.

Colorado is one of the newer sanctuary states, making it illegal, as of May 2019, for law enforcement officials to hold immigrants when ICE sends a detainer request. It didn’t take long to see that this new law was a mistake.

In October 2019, Osmani Garces-Ortiz was arrested on charges of drug possession and criminal trespassing. Local officials released him on bond after ICE placed their detainer. Less than a month after being released, Garces-Ortiz was arrested and charged with assault and attempted murder.

North Carolina

The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina had an illegal immigrant in custody twice and refused to hold him for ICE both times. The man, Marvin Ramirez Torres, had a history of felony indecent liberties with a child, and local law enforcement still thought it was better to release him back into the public than cooperate with federal agents.

Torres was eventually arrested by ICE when he showed up to register as a sex offender.

So much for only protecting low-level criminals.

Officials in these states have made it obvious that their main concern is protecting their liberal image and playing political games. Thankfully, President Trump actually cares about the American people.

Border Agents

The Trump administration will be sending 100 agents to New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Houston, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, New Orleans and Newark over the next three months.

The Border Patrol officers will help local ICE officers get illegal immigrants off the streets.

This announcement came a few days after the DOJ filed lawsuits against New Jersey, California and King County, WA for making it difficult for ICE to enforce immigration laws.

While many Democrats are outraged by this announcement, millions of Americans are thankful that they can start to sleep soundly knowing that there will be fewer criminals roaming the streets.
