Chinese Donations Uncovered at Biden-Linked Universities

Chinese Donations Found at Another Biden College

(UnitedVoice.com) – In 2018, the University of Pennsylvania opened the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, DC. The center is named after 46th President Joe Biden. It is a think tank that allegedly deals with domestic and foreign policy leaders on issues that promote American leadership and ideals on the international stage.

After leaving the vice presidency, Biden spent time at an office at the Penn Center. Since becoming president, questions have swirled about donations from foreign governments, specifically China, to UPenn. Information about those donors has recently come to light.

Donations

When Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in January, investigations into China and its possible links to Biden and his family became an important issue. On January 18, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-KY) announced he was going to look into foreign donations to UPenn.

In his notice, Comer called on the university’s president, M. Elizabeth Magill, to provide Congress with information about any and all Chinese donations. The congressman said the “American people deserve to know” if the Chinese Communist Party and companies linked to it “influenced potential Biden Administration policies” with anonymous donations.

In January, Peter Flaherty, the chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, told “Fox & Friends Weekend” that there was a $14-million anonymous gift donated to UPenn in 2018. He claimed the gifts to the university accelerated after the Biden Center opened that year.

On February 15, Peter Schweizer, the president of the Government Accountability Institute, appeared on Fox News to discuss the donations to another school connected to the president. He told host Tucker Carlson there are new reports of donations of more than $6 million to the University of Delaware that were made after Biden established a program in his name.

Classified Documents

One of the reasons the issue of possible donations is getting so much attention is because of the classified documents scandal. Late last year, lawyers who were cleaning out Biden’s former office at the DC center found material with classified markings inside a locked closet. Republicans are concerned bad actors might have had access to those documents.

Though there is currently no proof that the Chinese government was donating money to either of the universities to influence the president or that any foreign adversary had access to the material, Republicans want investigations. In addition to the possibility of impropriety committed by the president, there’s also the other elephant in the room: Hunter Biden and his business dealings. The GOP is also looking into whether the president’s son might have influenced his father based on his own business dealings.
