Christian Pastor Runs for Senate [PLUS: Johnson Denied Visa and Duffy Resigning]

Sutherland Springs Pastor Running for Republican Seat

Frank Pomeroy, Pastor of Sutherland Springs Church, is now running for the Senate. He’s running as a Republican against Sen. Judith Zaffirini (D-TX). The church underwent a mass shooting in late 2017, which solidified his belief that the direction Texas chooses to go will determine the fate of the nation.

Pomeroy was out of town the day the shooting took place in which 26 people lost their lives, including the pastor’s own 14-year-old daughter. Even with such a massive loss Pomeroy retained his faith in God and became an inspirational figure in his community.

If I can bring civility and godliness and help stymie the downward spiraling of the great state of Texas, that’s what I’m choosing to try to do. I feel as though that morality and integrity are disappearing rapidly and I feel as though the direction Texas goes — if Texas falls, the country falls.

-Frank Pomeroy

Zaffirini has served as District 21’s Senator since 1987 and the district is determined to be solidly under Democrat control. She’s defeated many Republicans in the past and faced no opposition during her last campaign. Hopefully, Pomeroy can win another Senate seat for Republicans in 2020.

Ron Johnson Can’t Get Russian Visa

US Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), the chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, has been denied a Russian visa. Johnson believes this is because he was vocal about wanting to hold Russia accountable for their actions in Ukraine.

The Senator was hoping to travel to Russia with other American lawmakers so he could meet with Russian government officials to improve relations with the US.

The path Vladimir Putin has chosen for Russia is a tragedy of historic proportions. Unfortunately, Russian officials continue to play diplomatic games with this sincere effort and have denied me entrance to Russia. Regardless of this petty affront, I will continue to advocate a strong and resolute response to Russian aggression — and frank dialogue when possible.

-Sen. Ron Johnson

The trip is set to take place in the first week of September. Members of the congressional delegation that have received their visas haven’t been announced. This sandbagging by Russia indicates that they don’t truly want better relations with America.

Rep. Sean Duffy Resigning

Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy announced on Monday that he’s resigning from Congress.

The longtime Republican recently found out that his unborn baby, who’s due in October, has a serious heart condition. The father of eight has been a representative for Wisconsin’s 7th District for almost nine years. Prior to entering politics, Duffy was also a district attorney for eight years.

Duffy has been a big supporter of President Trump. Many people were anticipating his campaign for Senator or Governor in the coming years. Duffy replaced Democratic Rep. Dave Obey who had served 15 terms before retiring.

He announced his resignation via Facebook, and his last day in Congress will be September 23rd. Join us in praying for his baby’s safe delivery and good health.
