(UnitedVoice.com) – On Tuesday morning, former US Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) confused CNN’s Bakari Sellers when he said abortion and slavery were the same things. Bakari, an African-American, vehemently fought back against Santorum’s position. Unfortunately, Bakari, like many pro-abortion Liberals, missed the point.
It’s correct that they are not the same thing. However, the philosophies behind slavery and abortion are the same. Both rely on the false assertion that one specific type of human being is not a “person” worthy of dignity, respect, or legal protection. In the former case, it led to enslavement and in the latter, death.
In 1984, Rev. Jesse Jackson (D) said abortion was “black genocide,” and compared it to slavery. Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger was a eugenist. She believed in the controlled selective breeding of humans to prevent the births of those she said, “never should have been born at all.”
In 1939, Sanger began the “Negro Project,” which would be defined as racism today. Blacks in the south at that time were extremely poor, which fit her criteria. She believed the way to influence Blacks to submit to eugenics voluntarily was through a religious appeal. She said she didn’t want them to believe she was trying to exterminate them and that pastors could control their “more rebellious members.”
Perhaps Santorum was on to something?
