Congressman Reveals Tragic Details of Daughter’s Death
(UnitedVoice.com) – A congressman has spoken out about the sudden death of his teenage daughter, Gwen Casten, who died at her home last Monday. Now, her father has requested privacy as the family mourns.
Police in Downer’s Grove, Illinois, responded to a call at the home of Representative Sean Casten (D-IL) around 7 a.m. on June 13 to attend to an “unresponsive” 17-year-old girl. The girl, Casten’s daughter Gwen, was dead when the cops arrived. The police department hasn’t released any further details about her death.

In a June 15 statement released through Twitter, Casten revealed his daughter was fine on Sunday night but simply didn’t wake up the next morning. He said, “The only thing we know about her death is that it was peaceful.” Casten went on to praise his daughter as a “happy, healthy, well adjusted” girl who was due to start college this fall. He added she was a keen student activist and musician.
Casten said, “There are no words to describe the hole in your heart when a child dies.” Every parent’s nightmare has just come true for the congressman’s family. It has to be even worse when the death is as sudden and unexpected as Gwen Casten’s. Nobody should have to suffer this kind of devastating loss.
