(UnitedVoice.com) – The next time you visit a nearby major big-box retailer you may notice some drastic safety changes. To help reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 for both employees and consumers, store managers are taking matters into their own hands.
Management at major retailers such as Costco, Home Depot, Target, and Walmart are making the necessary changes to comply with authorities. This comes as the federal government and the CDC set forth new recommended mask guidelines to combat the deadly virus.
In many retail stores, you’ll notice floor markers spaced 6 feet apart at cash registers to remind customers to practice social distancing. However, some have decided this isn’t enough.
Target stores will begin issuing its employees gloves and protective masks before their shifts. They’re also setting up plexiglass barriers at check-out counters as a new safety precaution.
Costco stores will begin limiting access to shoppers by implementing a two-person per card limit for its members. Seniors and disabled persons will see designated shopping hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 to 9 a.m. to minimize exposure.
As the federal government struggles to contain the deadly virus and find medical solutions, there’s never been a more important time for Americans to safeguard their own health. It’s good to know major retail stores are doing their part to keeping people safe while they shop for essentials.
