(UnitedVoice.com) – On September 12, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced he was launching an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. The Republican leader said it would give his party more power to look into the business dealings of the POTUS. Democrats recently discussed one of the potential links between the president and his son.
Fox News Digital recently reached out to House Democrats about Eric Schwerin, Hunter Biden’s former business partner, after the White House sent out an extensive memo responding to the impeachment inquiry. In the letters to media outlets, the administration told members they should increase scrutiny about the GOP’s actions. The president’s team included a fact check that was 14 pages long and spelled out all of the allegations made against Biden, along with the alleged statements.
One of the blurbs stated that the GOP’s “own witnesses,” including Schwerin, “said President Biden was not involved” in Hunter’s business. The memo cited Schwerin’s March 2023 interview, where he said as much. House Republicans have said they didn’t interview Schwerin; he only provided a statement. Schwerin’s lawyer said he did have an interview with Republicans.
A spokesperson for Dems on the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability released a statement to Fox News Digital admitting Schwerin was the president’s bookkeeper from 2009 to 2017, while Biden was vice president. Previous reporting showed he visited the White House many times over those eight years.
The Democratic spokesperson said that Schwerin has said that he wasn’t “aware of any transactions into or out of the then-Vice President’s bank account related to business conducted by any Biden family member.”
Schwerin, who has been referred to as “the money guy” in the past, reportedly worked on Biden’s taxes and personal budget. His lawyer took issue with his client being called a “bookkeeper.” He said Schwerin just helped Biden with his finances.
