Democrats Choose Former Republican to Run Against Gov. Ron DeSantis in November

Ron DeSantis CHALLENGER Revealed – Look Who!

(UnitedVoice.com) – US Rep Charlie Crist’s (D-FL) political history is anything but typical. He served as the Republican governor of Florida from 2007 to 2011, ran for US Senate as an Independent in 2010 and lost, then switched parties completely for a losing run at the governor’s mansion in 2014. The Left embraced him in 2016, sending him to the House of Representatives to represent the state’s 13th congressional district.

On August 23, Democrats in the Sunshine State chose the former Republican over the only member of their party in a statewide office to run against incumbent Governor Ron DeSantis (R) in November. Crist took out Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in a convincing landslide.

With 99% of the vote in, Crist walked away with the race with more than 57% of the vote to Fried’s 35.3%. Two other candidates, Candace Daniel and Robert Willis, took in 4.9% combined.

Crist moves on to face DeSantis, who had no primary challenger. The GOP governor is polarizing, yet he barely squeaked out a win in 2018. Given his strong leadership position during the pandemic, he might stand a better chance of winning more convincingly this time. Florida registered nearly 5.2 million Republicans, outnumbering Democrats for the first time in statewide election history.
