(UnitedVoice.com) – Over the last five years, Conservative Americans were attacked with labels unspeakable. Chief among them were references to racism and bigotry. The attacks from the Left were meant to be harsh, severe, and their goal was to silence any opposition to their Progressive agenda. The initial shock was a difficult pill for many Americans to swallow as they stood by day after day and watched former President Donald Trump take the arrows on behalf of tens of millions of Americans.
This week, something changed. Maybe it’s because the far-left really believes their rhetoric? Perhaps there is a deep-seated disgust for much of America? One has to wonder after an all-out civil war broke out in the Democratic Party. It started on Monday, June 7, when far-left “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) tweeted that the United States and Israel were guilty of equivalent “atrocities” committed by Hamas and the Taliban. On Thursday, twelve Jewish members of Congress responded in kind, and the full Democratic House leadership, guided by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), issued a letter rebuking Omar.
Claims of Racism and Islamophobia
On Wednesday, twelve House members, all of whom are Jewish, demanded that Omar “clarify her words” because her tweet revealed “deep-seated prejudice” (against Jews). Omar is a Muslim from Somalia who initially came to America as a war-torn refugee. It’s not the first time Omar has been in trouble for anti-Semitic remarks. In 2019, the House rebuked her twice for hateful comments, though they protected the party by not mentioning her by name.
If Omar’s tweet on Monday wasn’t enough, her response was even worse after the entire House Democratic leadership team scolded her for “drawing false equivalencies” that promote prejudice. She doubled down and accused the party of trying to silence her with Islamophobia.
It seems the Democratic Party is getting a good dose of its own medicine. Omar’s response is a typical tactic used by the left to silence criticism. When all else fails, scream racism or Islamophobia. There is no Islamophobia involved unless Omar is claiming anti-Semitism is inherent in Islam, and therefore, it’s okay because it’s a religious perspective.
And that seems to be her argument.
Omar was far from alone in using the tactic. Squad leader, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), lamented how tired she is of her group being vilified, mischaracterized, and targeted. The other Muslim woman in the House, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), tweeted that freedom of speech doesn’t exist for Muslim women in Congress. Additionally, newly elected Black Lives Matter activist and Squad member Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) told the party not to talk to Squad members with anti-Blackness and Islamophobia in a tweet.
So, let’s get this straight: AOC spoke out of both sides of her mouth. Vilifying, mischaracterizing, and targeting someone is okay if the Squad does it. However, they can’t accept legitimate criticism. Bush wants to play the race card to squash the leadership.
Pelosi has a serious challenge on her hands.
Is This the End of the Democrats as a Strong National Party?
Nancy Pelosi’s been around for a long time. This isn’t her first rodeo. She mastered the techniques the Squad is trying to use against the Democratic Party. Unfortunately for her, the Squad spent the last three years trying to hijack the party, causing it to rot from the inside out.
While the media propagates fake news about Trump and the Republican Party, it’s a cover to hide what’s going on in the Democratic party. Trump held the Democrats together by giving them a common enemy. Now that he’s gone, it’s open warfare for the future of the party. As predicted in February 2020, the Democratic Party is turning itself into a fractured minority party while it internally but openly debates defunding the police and advancing socialists policies.
They can’t be a big tent party full of Moderates and Leftists. It won’t work. Now, Progressives are using the tactics they used to try to silence Conservatives against their own party members. Will it open their eyes? Probably not.
Yet this turf war will expose to reasonable American’s that Democrats don’t deserve to be in power.
