Democrats Request UNUSUAL Change at the Capitol
(UnitedVoice.com) – Americans are facing rising gas prices crippling their budgets. While they try to make every penny count at the gas station, they also deal with rising food, medical care, clothing, and insurance prices. As they struggle to feed their families and keep them healthy, two Democrats on Capitol Hill are worried about labeling bathrooms.
Representatives Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Katherine Clark (D-MA) are backing an effort by Capitol Hill staffers to create unisex bathrooms. The lawmakers believe that changing where people use the restroom will provide a more inclusive environment for transgender people.
According to reports, the lawmakers sent a letter to Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), the chair of the House Administration Committee, and said they believe using “single-use restrooms” will make a “difference in the lives” of gender non-conforming, transgender, disabled, and older people. They also claimed it would be easier for parents who have little kids. The letter stated that people working in the Rayburn and Cannon office buildings must leave the building to find a bathroom.

The lawmakers didn’t explain how this issue was impacting the majority of Americans; instead, they claimed people visiting the Capitol had encountered the issue.
Do you think lawmakers should be spending their time quarreling over restrooms when the country is experiencing so many crises?
