(UnitedVoice.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was called out by the Trump administration after her statement on the new travel ban.
Last week, President Donald Trump announced a travel ban expansion to include Nigeria, Burma, Kyrgyzstan, and Eritrea. Tanzania and Sudan would also face restrictions but not as severe. The first four countries mentioned will have new requirements for people who want to move to the US permanently or apply for a work visa.
In 2018, a little more than 12,000 visas would have been affected by the new rules. Pelosi, however, claimed hundreds of millions will be hurt by the new ban:
“The sweeping rule, barring more than 350 million individuals from predominantly African nations from traveling to the United States, is discrimination disguised as policy.”
The Speaker’s inflated numbers lead to a rebuke from Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Chad Wolf, on Twitter:
Facts are stubborn. The new travel restrictions do not apply to 350 million people – as some of our critics would lead you to believe. Such statements are grossly inaccurate and irresponsible. https://t.co/YY7YfONvnc

It seems Pelosi was either misinformed or intentionally misleading the American people. Hopefully, it’s the former.
