Alex Jones Files for Bankruptcy Following Sandy Hook Verdicts
(UnitedVoice.com) – Conservative radio host Alex Jones is on the hook for more than $1 billion in lawsuit verdicts. Multiple courts awarded families of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre victims hundreds of millions of dollars after they won defamation lawsuits against the InfoWars founder. It’s unclear whether they will ever see that money after Jones’ recent court filing.
On Friday, December 2, Jones filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the Southern District of Texas. The filing comes months after his company, Free Speech Systems, filed for bankruptcy in July. For years, the infamous radio host tried to keep the courts from accessing his business and financial records. The victims’ families sued him, claiming he was committing fraud by trying to move his money around to shield it from the verdicts.
The bankruptcy filing means Sandy Hook families will likely have to line up with other creditors attempting to obtain payment.

The New York Times reported Chris Mattei, one of the lawyers representing some of the families, said the bankruptcy courts wouldn’t “protect anyone who engages in intentional and egregious attacks on others.” The verdicts against Jones center around his repeated lies that the Sandy Hook shooting was a false flag operation carried out in an attempt to disarm Americans. The victims’ families suffered harassment for a decade due to the conspiracy theory.
