Dolly Parton Makes Huge Pledge to Her Employees

(UnitedVoice.com) – Much like the late Betty White, singer Dolly Parton is adored by millions of Americans for having such a kind soul. She transcends political divisions and is beloved by people from all walks of life. Recently, she once again proved why people feel that way.

Beginning on February 24, employees at the singer’s Tennessee amusement park, Dollywood, will have their tuition, books and fees covered if they want to go to college. All 11,000 full-time, part-time and even seasonal workers at any of Herschend Enterprises, Dollywood’s parent company, will qualify for the aid. Dolly Parton is a partner of the parent company.

The name of the new educational initiative is Grow U. Employees will be able to register for college courses on their first day through about 30 different learning institutions that have partnered with the company. They will be able to study everything from marketing to finance. Over 100 degrees are covered. For those who prefer to get another type of degree like one in art design or hospitality, they can qualify for up to $5,250 to offset the cost.

A spokesperson for Dollywood Co, Wes Ramey, said the company wants to make the employees feel appreciated because when they feel appreciated, they “can pass that feeling on to their guests.” He said Dolly is very supportive of the people who work for her company and wants to see them continue to grow.
