Engineer Releases Tragic News About Florida Building Collapse

(UnitedVoice.com) – Tragedy struck Miami, Florida last week as part of a condo complex collapsed, leaving at least 10 dead and over 150 missing. Now, shockingly, it’s emerged that an engineer reported serious problems with the building THREE YEARS ago – but nothing was done.

On June 25, Miami city officials released an October 2018 report by structural engineer Frank Morabito, who had just examined the 13-story Champlain Towers South building. Morabito listed a catalog of structural issues, including cracks in concrete decks, support pillars, walls and beams. He went on to warn that most of the problems he’d found needed to be repaired in “a timely fashion” to maintain the building’s structural integrity.

Unfortunately for the building’s residents, its condo board had their own ideas about what “timely fashion” means, and repairs were only scheduled to start later this year. That gave water another three years to penetrate the cracks Morabito had found, and possibly cause the accelerated structural damage he warned of at the time. Now it’s being reported that state officials are “unclear” what caused the building to collapse – but Morabito’s ignored report seems to give some pretty strong clues.
