FBI Allegedly Used “Terrorist” Label on US Vet

(UnitedVoice.com) – The FBI has been accused of targeting Conservatives in recent years. Republicans have accused the federal law enforcement agency of inflating the number of domestic terrorism investigations in order to make the right look bad. Now, new allegations are arising about the agency’s alleged treatment of a military veteran and an organization that he created.

Allegations Against FBI

In September, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray and spoke about allegations made by an alleged whistleblower. The unnamed person claimed that in 2020, the bureau labeled former US Army Green Beret Mike Glover and his organization, American Contingency, domestic terrorists.

Jordan claimed the whistleblower said the FBI launched an investigation into Glover and determined he wasn’t a terrorist but kept the terror designation on the veteran’s organization. The congressman accused federal law enforcement of investigating the former special forces soldier’s military records and his disability rating.

Glover recently appeared on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News and spoke out about what the whistleblower said. The veteran told the host that he thought something was going on because he was kicked off a number of social media sites. He gave a rundown of what Jordan has alleged the whistleblower claimed and said, “It’s horrible.”

The retired service member said that he chose to start an organization after leaving the military because he’s “an entrepreneur first.” He said that he believes he’s being targeted by his own country and accused the FBI of targeting his mother, too. Glover told Carlson that his mom’s Facebook account was shut down because “the FBI communicated to social media and destroyed all the social media accounts.”

It’s not clear where Glover obtained the information about the FBI contacting social media organizations. He didn’t show Carlson proof that it happened, and Jordan did not mention it in his letter.

The FBI Responds

When Jordan questioned the FBI about the allegations, the agency released a statement that said it doesn’t “comment on any specific groups or individuals.” The bureau went on to say it does not have the power to designate anyone or group a “domestic terrorist.”

The FBI statement said the agency cannot open an investigation into any group or individual based on their use of protected First Amendment speech. The only time the agency investigates is when someone allegedly commits or wants to commit a violent act that poses a threat to US national security. Further, the agency claimed the FBI works to “uphold the Constitution. One does not come at the expense of the other.”

Republicans in Congress are not convinced. The House is currently investigating the agency to find the truth.
