(UnitedVoice.com) – The Democratic Party and mainstream media (MSM) have spent a great deal of time focusing on a report written by British spy Christopher Steele, which is full of accusations about President Donald Trump. The FBI even used this dossier as an excuse to launch an investigation into the president’s 2016 election campaign and its alleged ties to the Russian government. Now, it turns out, the intelligence report may have been every bit of the fake news Republicans claimed. Worse yet, federal law enforcement may have known about it all along.
Republicans Were Right
When the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane team started investigating the Trump campaign, it seemed a bit fishy. Republicans said the foundation of the investigation was the Steele Dossier, which was totally unsubstantiated.
After Robert Mueller wrapped up the Trump-Russia investigation, the Department of Justice Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, started looking into the origins of the Russian witchhunt. What he found was exactly what Republican lawmakers feared: widespread failures in the FBI.
The Real Russian Collusion
Declassified footnotes from Horowitz’s report are proving it’s even worse than that. Apparently, the FBI knew that the Steele Dossier wasn’t trustworthy, but they still used it.
Footnote 350 in the December 2019 report says federal investigators were made aware of the possibility Steele had many contacts with Russian officials. The note also reports the Crossfire Hurricane team was told about the “potential for Russian disinformation influencing Steele’s election reporting.”
In other words, it appears the Steele Dossier was part of a Russian plot to target Trump’s 2016 campaign, not Hillary Clinton’s. We already know Democrats funded the research leading to the misinformation. Doesn’t that mean the real collusion was between the Democratic Party and Russia, not Trump?
AG Vows to Right Some Wrongs
On April 9, Attorney General William Barr spoke out against the FBI’s antics. During an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, the AG said the investigation into President Trump was an attempt to “sabotage the presidency.”
Barr also vowed to get to the bottom of the matter. He told Ingraham he believes America isn’t just dealing with “mistakes or sloppiness,” something more “troubling” was going on. The AG said if he can prove that people broke the law, “they will be prosecuted.”
Barr’s reaction to the news is promising — it’s about time something was done about the Russian witchhunt. As time passes, it seems even clearer that President Trump was the real victim this whole time.
