Feds Find Enough Drugs To Kill Everyone in Dallas

(UnitedVoice.com) – Customs officers have seized a shipment of illegal fentanyl, and they say it’s enough to kill well over a million people. Smugglers were bringing in the drugs from Mexico, raising worrying questions about the border security crisis. A border challenged daily by illegal immigrants is also open to deadly drugs.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents at the Nogales Port of Entry near Nogales, Arizona, raked in a massive haul of illegal drugs. Seized narcotics included 34 pounds of methamphetamine, 5 pounds of marijuana, and a huge quantity of the lethal opiate fentanyl. In addition to four pounds of fentanyl powder, they intercepted around 625,000 rainbow-colored tablets laced with the drug, also found recently in states and territories as widely scattered as Washington, DC, Alaska, Oregon, and West Virginia.

Officials say cartels are using the brightly colored tablets to tempt children into drug addiction, causing significant concern because even a small dose of fentanyl can easily be lethal. According to the CDC, synthetic opioids, mostly fentanyl, caused 64% of US overdose deaths last year. Nogales customs director Michael Humphries told the Daily Caller the weekend’s seizures contained enough of the drug to kill around 1.5 million people — the entire population of Dallas, TX.

Humphries said CBP agents are doing good work intercepting drugs entering the US through legal entry points. Critics question how much they’re missing and how much is coming across other points along our collapsing border. Fatal overdoses in the US are at an all-time high, but the Biden Administration still refuses to take border security seriously. How many more Americans will die before the president finally has to act?
