(UnitedVoice.com) – There’s been an uptick in violence in Israel over the last several weeks as the result of Palestinian attacks. Several Muslims were arrested for attacking Jews who were trying to visit one of the holiest sites in their religion.
On Wednesday, April 20, Israel Police arrested seven Palestinians who were caught throwing Molotov cocktails while inside the al-Aqsa Mosque (Temple Mount). They were trying to prevent Jewish worshippers from visiting the holy site. Videos also showed Palestinian rioters throwing fireworks at Israeli Police.

Temple Mount is the third holiest site in Islam and Judaism’s holiest. Although the site is in eastern Jerusalem, the Jordanian Islamic Waqf is the custodian of the site. The Waqf has banned non-Muslims from praying at the site since 1967 and they’re prohibited from entering the site at all during the last 10 days of Ramadan, the Islamic holiday.
Despite the violence from the Palestinians at the Temple Mount site, Israel still allowed them to enter the country unrestricted during Ramadan so they could attend prayers at the al-Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinians weren’t the only ones arrested on April 20 at Temple Mount. Three Jewish men were as well for trying to pray at the site.
