(UnitedVoice.com) – In the days after the events that took place on Capitol Hill, Big Tech banned President Donald Trump from social media platforms. The decisions came after the Democratic Party and mainstream media blamed him for the incident in Washington, DC. Now, a member of the GOP’s “Freedom Force,” a group of newly-elected conservative congresswomen, is taking aim at the Silicon Valley companies.
In a January 15 letter to House Republicans, Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) called on her conservative colleagues to reject “any and all contributions” from Big Tech. She said their censorship has “reached a new, concerning level” and the companies are using their “power” to “silence Conservative voices.” The freshman congresswoman said it’s time for the GOP to put their money where their mouths are.
Big Tech is increasingly wielding their power and market dominance to silence conservative voices, and we need to put an end to it.
I’m pledging to refuse and all campaign contributions from Big Tech, and I’m urging my colleagues to do the same. https://t.co/oxzTvemSj3

By rejecting the donations from tech companies, Republicans will signal that Silicon Valley cannot buy their support. It’s high time Congress enact regulations that mitigate the power these corporations have. Silencing the sitting president of the US was the final straw, and Van Duyne is right, it’s time to send “a clear message” that the GOP will not take money from companies censoring Conservative voices.
