(UnitedVoice.com) – The Venezuelan people have been suffering greatly over the last few years. In 2014, the economy began to collapse under President Nicolás Maduro. Six years later, the country is not only suffering economically, but it’s also being destroyed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The US is trying to help get aid directly to the people of the South American country.
According to reports, roughly 62,700 healthcare workers in Venezuela are receiving money from the US. However, the money isn’t going to the formal government. Opposition leader Juan Guaido, who America recognizes as the country’s true leader, is receiving money the US seized from Maduro.
The US Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control approves each recipient before they receive any money.

The joint effort by the US and Guaido is a huge relief for the healthcare workers who are not only fighting to save people but also fighting to live. Currently, they’re only paid an average of $5 a month for the hard and heartbreaking work they do. America is providing an incredible amount of help to the country’s heroes.
