At a leadership forum on April 15, former House Speaker Paul Ryan said he expected to see “a big migration” from cities like New York, where he said Democrat leaders don’t appreciate job creators, to alternative locations like Texas or Florida. According to Ryan, the State And Local Tax cap (SALT) passed by Republicans in 2017 has shown how much is spent by Democrat city governments. Now, with the Democrats thinking of removing the cap and allowing taxes to rise again, a lot of businesses are considering moving to more business-friendly locations.
Ryan warned that it’s now easier than ever for businesses, especially in the growing tech and finance sectors, to relocate. If state and local Democrats keep raising taxes to pay for entitlement programs and inefficient bureaucracy, companies will simply go where they’re wanted – and that means red states.
