Conservative Volunteer Brutally Attacked While Canvassing
(UnitedVoice.com) – As the midterm elections draw nearer, campaigns have canvassers out on the streets encouraging people to get out and vote. That’s what a Republican volunteer was doing this month in Florida. Unfortunately, he became the victim of a brutal attack.
On October 23, Christopher Monzon was walking past Amelia Earhart Park in Hialeah, a Miami neighborhood, when a man confronted him. According to WFLA News, the police report states the man, 25-year-old Javier Lopez, allegedly blocked the canvasser’s path and told him he wasn’t allowed to pass because it was the suspect’s neighborhood. Monzon told officers that he responded, “This is public property, and I can be here if I want to.”
The two men reportedly began to argue, and it turned physical. The victim said Lopez grabbed him and slammed him on the ground. Then, the suspect began punching the canvasser in his face multiple times.
Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) tweeted that Monzon was working for his campaign when the assailant attacked him. The lawmaker claimed four suspects told the victim, “Republicans weren’t allowed in their neighborhood.”
A staffer for Marco Rubio was brutally beaten last night. The man suffered serious injuries and is hospitalized Republicans have been attacked including one fatally, just for being Republican, since Biden demonized Republicans last month. I thought we voted instead of using force

The police report didn’t substantiate Rubio’s claims. Officers have said another person kicked Monzon while he was on the ground. Local 10 News reached out to the Hialeah Police Department and asked if the attack was politically motivated, and Sgt. Jose Torres told the reporters there was “no indication that is the case.”
The police are continuing to investigate the crime.
