(UnitedVoice.com) – The Lori Vallow Daybell murder saga has gripped the nation. It first made headlines when her children, 16-year-old daughter Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old son JJ Vallow, mysteriously vanished in September 2019, just weeks apart. Shortly after their disappearance, she went to Hawaii and married Chad Daybell. She was recently convicted in Idaho for their murders. However, authorities believe her crimes began before her kids died.
On May 16, days after Vallow Daybell was convicted of the murders of her children, Fox 10 reporter Justin Lum revealed an Arizona grand jury had previously indicted her on the attempted murder of her niece’s husband, Brandon Boudreaux.

According to reports, Boudreaux was in a bitter divorce battle with Melani Pawlowski in October 2019. Someone driving a Jeep Wrangler fired a shot at him one day but missed him. The Gilbert Police Department investigated the crime for about two years and ultimately came to believe the person driving the Jeep that day was Vallow Daybell’s brother, Alex Cox.
Police allege Vallow Daybell called her brother in the two days leading up to the shooting. A license plate reader spotted a Jeep Wrangler belonging to her late husband, Charles Vallow, near the area. DNA indicated Cox was the driver of the Jeep.
Less than 24 hours before the shooting, Cox’s Gmail account showed he searched for the victim’s address. While outside of the victim’s home, he texted his sister. Vallow Daybell was indicted for conspiracy to commit murder in this case in 2022, but the indictment was only recently unsealed. Alex Cox died in 2019. He allegedly played a role in the death of her children, as well. It was his cellphone data that led police to the bodies of the kids.
A Trail of Dead Bodies
In addition to murdering her children, Vallow Daybell was found guilty of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection to the death of Tammy Daybell.
Tammy Daybell is the late wife of Chad Daybell, Lori’s current husband. He has been charged with first-degree murder in that case. Originally, her death was ruled natural, but police exhumed her body after the children went missing.
In 2021, an Arizona grand jury also indicted Vallow Daybell for one count of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the death of her estranged husband, Charles Vallow. His Jeep is the one allegedly used in the crime against Boudreaux. Alex Cox shot Vallow to death in 2019 when he arrived to pick up his son, JJ, for school.
Cox later told police that he was just defending his sister. Authorities believe the killing was premeditated.
A sentencing date has not yet been set for Vallow Daybell for the murders of her kids.
