American Arrested for Aiding ISIS, Possessing Destructive Device
(UnitedVoice.com) – ISIS is responsible for countless attacks overseas that have left Americans dead. In 2021, one of those plots took the lives of 13 US service members in Afghanistan. So, any time the Department of Justice (DOJ) catches an American aiding the terrorist organization, it’s infuriating. That’s exactly what happened recently.
On November 15, the DOJ announced the arrest of a Michigan man named Aws Mohammed Naser. Agents accuse the 34-year-old of trying to give ISIS material support “in the form of personnel (including himself) and services.” The DOJ contends that the American man knew that he was trying to help a terrorist organization. The agency also charged him with possession of a destructive device as a felon.

According to a statement from US Attorney Dawn Ison of the Eastern District of Michigan, the government “will aggressively investigate and prosecute anyone who seeks to aid terrorists.” James Tarasca, special agent in charge, stated that Naser’s indictment should remind others of “what can happen if they try” to aid terrorists.
Naser is facing a total of 35 years in prison if convicted of the charges against him. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is handling the investigation.
