(UnitedVoice.com) – The January 6 committee is continuing its witch hunt against former President Donald Trump and his supporters. The mostly-Democratic committee is trying to find a smoking gun to go after the 45th president but has so far been unsuccessful. However, there’s plenty of blame to go around, and it doesn’t lie with Trump.
In the days leading up to the January 6 event, Congress and law enforcement agencies knew there might be violence that day. The US National Police, the agency responsible for security on the National Mall and Ellipse, circulated an internal memo indicating they had intel showing the Proud Boys, a group known for violence, was making reservations at hotels in the DC area for the day of the Congressional certification of the election. The memo stated there was concern individuals might “display more aggressive and desperate behavior” and view January 6 as “their final opportunity to act on their grievances.”
The US Capitol Police also received word that armed people were allegedly organizing protests for the day.

The FBI also had access to information indicating that armed individuals might participate in the protests.
Despite having plenty of warnings, the Capitol Police, Park Police, the FBI, and Congress failed to properly secure the Capitol Building. Those failures led to chaos that was then blamed on the former president.
Instead of blaming Trump, shouldn’t the committee focus on the fact that federal and local law enforcement agencies didn’t take warnings seriously? And the fact that their inaction led to at least one woman dying and dozens of others suffering injuries?
