Jill Biden Is SO SORRY – Public Statement Issued
(UnitedVoice.com) – During the 2020 election, President Donald Trump received the largest percentage of Hispanic voters in GOP history. The demographic shift is cause for concern for Democrats hoping to hold on to Congress in November. First Lady Jill Biden may have made matters worse, leading to a recent apology after she made remarks that offended quite a few Latinos.
On Monday, July 11, Biden spoke at the 2022 UnidosUS Annual Conference in Texas. During her speech, she tried to compliment the Latino community’s diversity but instead made a remark that sounded like she was comparing them to something odd. The FLOTUS talked about the Hispanic community being as “unique as the breakfast tacos in San Antonio,” which hosted the event.

Biden’s Spokesperson Michael LaRosa issued a statement of apology the day after she made the remarks.
The First Lady apologizes that her words conveyed anything but pure admiration and love for the Latino community.

Many Latinos criticized the first lady for her choice of words. The National Association of Hispanic Journalists released a statement encouraging the first lady and her speech writers to take care in the future to understand the community better. “We are not tacos,” the statement declared. Elisa Martinez, a former Republican candidate for the Senate for New Mexico, tweeted a response telling the first lady she doesn’t identify as a taco.
Sorry Jill Biden but like most LATINOS, I don’t identify as a “breakfast taco.”
Nor #LATINX
