Joe Biden Announces SWEEPING Order – He’s Doing It!

Joe Biden Announces Thousands of Pardons

Joe Biden Announces Thousands of Pardons

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden is making big moves as the country gets closer to the midterm elections. In August, he announced millions of Americans would see $10,000 or $20,000 in student debt canceled. Now, he’s made a big decision about people incarcerated for marijuana offenses.

On October 6, Biden announced he was pardoning everyone federal courts have convicted of simple possession of marijuana. He said Attorney General Merrick Garland is developing a plan to give those offenders pardon certificates. Those convicted in Washington, DC, are also eligible. The Department of Justice issued a statement saying a plan is coming soon to implement the order.

Biden urged governors to take similar steps, saying nobody should be in federal and state prison or county jail for possessing cannabis. The POTUS doesn’t have the power to pardon state offenders.

The president also asked Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra to review the classification for marijuana. Under current law, weed is a Schedule I narcotic, the same as heroin. Biden pointed out that’s “even higher than the classification of fentanyl and [meth].”

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace (SC) praised the president for issuing the pardons. According to The Hill, she said she was giving the administration “credit where credit is due.”
