(UnitedVoice.com) – The 2020 election was one of the most controversial in recent history. There were dozens of court cases alleging voter fraud in the weeks after the results were tallied and Republicans across the country have begun passing election security laws to prevent it from happening again. Instead of taking the allegations seriously, President Joe Biden is attacking members of the GOP for their diligence.
On July 13, Biden gave a disturbing speech in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attacked Republicans who have questioned whether fraud occurred during the race, calling them “bullies and merchants of fear and peddlers of lies.” The president claimed no other election has ever faced as much scrutiny as the one in 2020 — apparently forgetting the 2000 race that made it all the way to the Supreme Court. He followed up his speech with a Tweet that called the concerns many Americans have “a big lie,” referencing the media’s nickname for the allegations.
For those who challenge the results and question the integrity of the 2020 election — no other election has ever been held to such scrutiny and high standard.
The “big lie” is just that — the big lie.
— President Biden (@POTUS) July 13, 2021
During his speech, Biden called Republican efforts to protect elections an assault on the country. He claimed they’re trying to “suppress and subvert the right to vote.”
GOP lawmakers have repeatedly said they want to make it easier to vote but harder to cheat. The question now is why the president of the US has such a problem with those efforts. He should be applauding the fight to protect America’s free and fair elections, but instead, he’s attacking it.
