(UnitedVoice.com) – The crisis in Afghanistan is completely out of control. If there was ever a time for President Joe Biden to not make jokes, it’s now. Yet, that’s exactly what he did while speaking to the press recently.
On Wednesday, August 25, NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander asked Biden what actions he’d take if Americans are still in Afghanistan after August 31. Instead of giving the journalist an honest, thoughtful answer, he responded as if it was a big joke. “You’ll be the first person I call,” the president told Alexander.
I asked President Biden what he will do if Americans are still in Afghanistan after the 8/31 deadline.
His response: “You’ll be the first person I call.”

The day after the exchange, at least five suicide bombs detonated near the Kabul airport, killing 13 US soldiers and dozens of Afghans. An ISIS affiliate reportedly carried out the deadly attack. Biden addressed the nation Thursday evening and although he took some responsibility for what’s happening in the Middle Eastern country, he also tried to blame former President Donald Trump for the issues.
Perhaps the president should start treating the situation in Afghanistan with the seriousness it warrants. People are literally dying in the country. The American people want answers and the commander-in-chief should be providing those answers — not making jokes.
