Judge BLOCKS Ron DeSantis – Shuts His Plan Down!

Judge Blocks Ron DeSantis' Big Act

Judge Blocks Ron DeSantis’ Big Move

(UnitedVoice.com) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) likes passing meaningful legislation to protect Florida’s children. The Stop W.O.K.E. Act, introduced by the gubernatorial office in 2021, is one of those accomplishments. The law adds rules for public school teachers about addressing controversial subjects, including critical race theory. Lawmakers passed the bill earlier this year.

On November 17, US District Judge Mark Walker issued an injunction blocking the law’s implementation, calling it “positively dystopian,” according to the Associated Press. The Governor’s office has said that it expects Liberals on the courts to present roadblocks to much of its agenda — Walker is an Obama appointee. The DeSantis administration will appeal the ruling.

Black lawmakers in the state oppose the legislation, believing it prohibits teachers from approaching uncomfortable subjects from a historical viewpoint. Florida State Senator Shevrin Jones (D) believes Republicans “cloak themselves in freedom” while legislating the freedom of others. “They sure don’t support the freedoms of black people,” the senator said in an interview with Brendan Farrington of the Associated Press.

Gubernatorial Press Secretary Bryan Griffin defended the legislation as promoting the open exchange of ideas while also barring concepts promoting discrimination against employees or students of any race or marginalized community.

Judge Walker previously blocked the law from taking effect for businesses, and another legal action from a student and a group of K through 12 teachers is still outstanding.
