(UnitedVoice.com) – Over his 40 years in government and many political campaigns for the US Senate and Vice President, Democratic presumptive nominee Joe Biden has been caught fabricating and exaggerating the truth. He’s done this much so that if his lips are moving, he’s probably lying. It now appears he has an understudy, and America has a new dynamic duo of misinformers.
On Wednesday, Aug 13, Biden’s new running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), told so many mistruths in her first speech that it’s hard to know where to begin. Unfortunately for Kamala, it’s not her first go around. Harris is known to be loose with the truth and say anything she believes will politically benefit her, regardless of the facts.
Harris Makes Up Four Significant Lies
In politics, one ought to expect that opposition candidates will stretch the truth from time to time. It’s what politicians do. However, to blatantly and egregiously lie four times in one speech is almost unheard of. In Wednesday’s campaign kick-off speech with Biden, Harris’s attacks on President Trump were so folly that even Democrats must be wondering what she was thinking.
Let’s fact check the four lies…
1. Trump Plunged the US into Recession
Harris claimed that Trump plunged the US into the “worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.”
The recession has little to do with Trump, and everything to do with pandemic and the lockdowns. It was governors, predominantly in blue states, that closed businesses for nearly three months and initiated quarantines. That’s what caused 56 million Americans to end up on unemployment since mid-March, countless business bankruptcies, and the recession. In April, the president said to America that the country needed to reopen immediately and get back to work — that the cure couldn’t be worse than the disease.
It’s striking that for months Democrats chastised and mocked Trump for his position on reopening, and then Harris attempted a bait and switch.
2. Millions of Kids Can’t Go Back to School
Harris’s next big lie is that Trump and Pence are responsible for kids not going back to school this fall.
She’s wrong, again!
The president doesn’t have the authority to make those decisions. The federal government does not run schools. Nonetheless, for months Trump has taken heat from Democrats for saying kids “need” to go back to school. What’s preventing that are the Democratic-led public teacher unions who are opposed. They are threatening to strike if they are forced back into the classroom to teach kids.
Harris needs to go after the teacher’s unions, not Trump, if she wants kids to return to school.
3. Harris Referred to Ebola as a “Pandemic”
Harris was trying to make the case that former President Obama and Vice President Biden handled Ebola better than Trump has COVID-19. However, there are two main points to be considered. First, Ebola was never declared an international pandemic. It was an epidemic. Those are different and important distinctions. Second, only four cases and one death were confirmed in the United States.
4. COVID-19 Hit America Worse Than Any Other Nation
This deserves another Pinocchio. According to Statista, Belgium, the UK, Spain, Italy, and Sweden had more fatalities per million population than the United States. Once again, the senator’s facts are off.
If Biden and Harris want to prosecute Trump on half, or full, baked up lies – good luck. For those that argue Trump doesn’t tell the truth, they negate their arguments with their own lies. If this is the best they can do, they are in deep trouble.
