Kamala Harris to Finally Visit Border for the First Time

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden put Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of the border months ago. Since that time, the crisis has continued to spin out of control. Hundreds of thousands of migrants are flowing across the border and it’s becoming increasingly more dangerous. Republicans have called on Harris to visit the border repeatedly to see what’s going on but she has refused — until now.

On Wednesday, June 23, the vice president’s office announced she’s heading to the border in the coming days with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Symone Sanders, Harris’ chief spokesperson, said they’re traveling to El Paso, Texas on June 25. For months, the VP has refused to go down South, laughing at suggestions by the press that she should go, as if the crisis is a big joke.

The trip will be her first visit to the border since she took office in January and it comes just days before former President Donald Trump is set to visit. The 45th president is planning a trip to the frontier with Texas Governor Greg Abbott at the end of the month. The governor has said he plans to finish Trump’s border wall in his state to make it safer for residents.

The timing of Harris’ trip is interesting. It’s almost as if she wants to make it there before the former president. Let’s see if the trip results in positive change for the country and not just a photo op.
