Kamala Harris’s ‘Grassroots Reception’ is Anything But

(UnitedVoice.com) – President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris are fully engaged in their campaign for reelection. The VP is soon headed to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, for a fundraising event. Critics are mocking her for the title of the event.

On August 12, the Biden Victory Fund is hosting an event on the island for the vice president and donors. An invitation to the event lists Wendell Pierce, Carol and C. Bernard Fulp, and Robin Leeds as the hosts of the fundraiser titled “A Grassroots Reception.”

Leeds wrote an email that went along with the invitation. She told the people invited to the event that America’s future is at stake and their “engagement is critical.” The “gathering,” she said, is their “opportunity to come together, reflect […], and plan for the future [they] envision.”

Fox News reported the event was not a “grassroots” reception because tickets ranged from $50 to $10,000. One social media user on the platform X, formerly Twitter, wondered how the vice president could be attending something called a “grassroots reception” when people will be paying thousands of dollars for tickets.

The island is also known as a playground for wealthy Democrats. Former President Barack Obama owns a home on the island, as does Harris’ sister, Maya Lakshmi Harris. The Kennedy Family, who was often there, made the island famous. It was a vacation spot for former President John F. Kennedy. After he died, his widow purchased a massive estate on the island. Their son, John F. Kennedy Jr., his wife, and sister-in-law died in a plane crash off the coast in 1999.

Visitors can only reach the island by plane or by ferry. In 2020, the median home price on the island was more than $1 million, but some cost several million. Michael J. Fox, Diane Sawyer, and other stars also own residences there. It’s also a popular vacation spot for elitists like Oprah and Bill Gates.
