(UnitedVoice.com) – Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) made a big splash when he entered Congress in 2021. Recently, he angered the GOP caucus with a wild accusation. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) spoke out against the congressman after meeting with him recently.
During a recent interview with John Lovell for the “Warrior Poet Society” podcast, the host asked Cawthorn if DC was like the dark Netflix hit “House of Cards” or if it was more like a documentary. The congressman claimed it was more like the television show, saying he’d been invited to orgies by lawmakers and seen other colleagues do cocaine. The comments angered the GOP caucus and McCarthy had to call the congressman into his office for a conversation.
After speaking to Cawthorn, McCarthy told Axios the congressman lied when he made the allegations. The GOP leader said he told the freshman lawmaker that he’d lost his trust and would need to “earn it back.”
IMPT: McCarthy doesn't fully close door on Cawthorn losing his committee assignments when asked: "There's a lot of different things that can happen. But I just told him he's lost my trust. He's going to have to earn it back…
I mean, he's got a lot of members very upset."

Roger Stone, one of former President Donald Trump’s ex-advisers, posted a statement on Gab calling McCarthy a “corrupt RINO” who was allegedly lying. He said Cawthorn told him the reports about his statements to McCarthy weren’t true, he never told the minority leader that he lied.
