(UnitedVoice.com) – Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was one of the 10 members of the GOP who voted for former President Donald Trump’s impeachment without any proof that he’d done anything to warrant such punishment. And recently, she finally faced her fellow Republicans to answer for her betrayal.
On Wednesday, February 3, GOP lawmakers voted on a measure to strip Cheney of her leadership role. The party conducted the vote with secret ballots and asked whether she should continue in her position as the chair of the House Republican Conference. She came out on top of the 145-61 vote.
Tonight’s GOP Conference Chair vote tells me that Liz Cheney’s colleagues in Washington like her more than her constituents in Wyoming.

Cheney represents the only congressional district in a state where more than 69% of voters cast their ballots for Donald Trump in 2020 — the entire state of Wyoming. She’s been censured by at least 10 of the county Republican Party committees in her state. So, while she may have survived being stripped of her leadership position in the national party, her voters may not be so forgiving in 2022.
