(UnitedVoice.com) – In a few years, America may look back and regret the choices state governments made to lock down the country. While some say the pandemic was the cause of the restrictions, in reality, it was government over-handedness. All the pandemic did was give politicians an excuse to abuse their powers. The results will truly show in the next generation, and it could be damaging to America’s future.
A new analysis by Fair Health shares just how destructive the lockdowns were to our children and young people. The researchers analyzed billions of data points from health care records and insurance claims. The report said that lockdowns were profound and that isolating kids and social distancing created stress and loneliness. In fact, the number of kids seeking treatment for anxiety, depression, and suicide surged.
Government Decisions Shape an Entire Generation
While government officials were locking down society, kids were forced to live in fear and look at others as a threat to their personal well-being and safety. On Twitter, a story was shared about a 2-year-old walking with her parents. When the child saw another person, she said, “Uh-oh, people.”
"Alice McGraw, 2 yrs old, was walking with her parents in Lake Tahoe this summer when another family appeared, heading in their direction. The little girl stopped.
'Uh-oh,' she said and pointed: 'People.'”

Unfortunately, as bad as that is, it’s not the worst of it. According to Fair Health, insurance claims for self-harm rose 90% among teenagers from 13 to 18 in March 2020 compared to the previous year. In April, they rose 100%. Drug overdoses were up 100% in March and 113% in April. These numbers sustained through the fall.
It’s no coincidence that kids started experiencing the problems as the lockdowns began. In April 2020, 13-18-year-olds saw anxiety disorder increase nearly 94% as a percentage of all medical claims over April 2019. Major depression disorder claims increased 84%. Worst still, children were 10 times more likely to die from suicide than from the virus. Let that sink in for a moment.
America Was Warned That Lockdowns Don’t Work
Last fall, Dr. David Nabarro, the World Health Organization’s Special Envoy on COVID-19, said, “The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganize, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we’d rather not do it.”
Democrats continue not to listen to the warnings and the data. That’s despite their claims that they only follow the science. The question is, whose science? President Biden continues to side with teacher’s unions — who continue to display more concern for adults than kids — rather than listening to his own experts at the CDC, who have recommended opening schools for months.
An entire generation of Americans is being taught from a young age to fear people. The consequences are only now being exposed, but the damage is done to America’s future. Still, some Democrats aren’t getting the message.
What will it take?
