First Lady Melania Trump and Second Lady Karen Pence made a rare appearance together on October 30th, when they took a trip to South Carolina for a briefing on emergency preparedness.

While visiting Joint Base Charleston, they received information from a variety of agencies about how they operate during natural disasters. Hurricanes are very active in South Carolina. Earlier this year Hurricane Dorian moved up the coast of South Carolina, destroying homes and vehicles.
The presidential wives also visited an elementary school in the area to learn about the Red Cross Pillowcase Project. This is an initiative to help children prepare both mentally and physically for natural disasters.
Before leaving the base the first lady said, “Our military has never been stronger or more capable than it is now, and our nation will continue to stand strong in the face of any enemy.”
We couldn’t agree more!
