#MeToo Movement Founder Betrays Assault Survivors

(UnitedVoice.com) – Members of the #MeToo Movement stood strong when Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accused then-Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, of assault back in the early 1980s. #MeToo Founder, Tarana Burke, even wrote a personal letter telling Ford she was a hero for coming forward and telling her story.

That doesn’t seem to be the case with Joe Biden’s accuser, Tara Reade. She recently filed assault charges against Biden for an incident that happened while serving as an aide back in 1993. Burke, however, has decided to publicly back Biden saying the situation with him is quite different.

She said Biden needs to present himself as both “accountable and electable” meaning he should admit fault in his actions, but it doesn’t have to be anything specific.

The #MeToo Movement was founded to help raise awareness of assault in society, especially by those who are in power. And although the movement originally started back in 2006, it really took hold in 2017, when Harvey Weinstein’s allegations of misconduct began.

The former vice president has, for many years, been a person of immense political power and had problems keeping his hands to himself. Back in 2019, he was forced to make a video and publicly apologize for getting too “comfortable” with women.

Many news media outlets have yet to ask Biden about the misconduct allegations and seem to be giving him a pass. And now, the #MeToo Movement founder appears to have put the movement in jeopardy, by supporting a man who’s had multiple accusations of misconduct throughout his political career.

It seems hypocrisy is alive and well.
