#MeToo New Biden Allegations Surface

(UnitedVoice.com) – Former Vice President Joe Biden has been accused of sexual assault. It comes at a time when he has all but secured the Democratic presidential nomination and the nation is struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s not the first time Biden has been accused of inappropriate behavior, but it is the most shocking and revealing accusation against him to date.

Tara Reade was a Biden staffer in the early 1990s. In a detailed and explicit interview with Katie Halper on Thursday, Reade said in 1993 Biden forcibly kissed her and reached into her pants while pushing her up against a wall. She said he did “things” to her without her consent.

Reade further said that after she backed away from Biden, he said to her, “Come on, man, I heard you liked me.” She said that his statement made her think she had “done this” to herself. She said before the incident, she had looked up to Biden as a father figure.

After the incident, Reade said her responsibilities were reduced after she declined to serve drinks at a political event. She claimed that Biden wanted her in that role because he liked her legs.

At the time of the incident, Reade said that her mother urged her to contact the police. However, her brother urged her to move on, and that’s what she did out of fear of retaliation.

Not Biden’s First Allegation

Biden has been accused numerous times of inappropriately touching women. In 2014, Nevada politician Lucy Flores, a Democrat, accused Biden of sniffing her hair and kissing the back of her head. Biden said in response that he “never once” acted inappropriately towards any woman.

In 2019, many other women came out and accused Biden of inappropriate behavior. Biden never admitted to anything and said that “if” he ever offended any woman he was sorry.

What Will the Democratic Party Do in Era of #MeToo?

It’s a fair question to ask since Democrats seem to have a double standard. They have dogged President Trump since 2016 for a locker room statement Trump made on a bus before an interview with Billy Bush for Access Hollywood. Then, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was viciously accused by Democrats of sexual assault without any evidence or corroboration.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) was one of the most vocal Democrats against Kavanaugh. She said, “I believe her,” speaking in reference to Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey-Ford. Harris has endorsed Biden. If she doesn’t speak out about Biden’s past behavior, she will be proven to be a political opportunist who doesn’t believe in due process for her opponents but does for those on her side of the aisle.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) also jumped on the bandwagon against Kavanaugh and said it didn’t matter if he was innocent or guilty. Booker also said they should move on with another Supreme Court candidate as no one is entitled to be on the Supreme Court.

What about the White House?

TEST

Now that #MeToo has hit the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, will there be a call for Biden to drop out or face the consequences?

Shouldn’t we assume by the Democrats’ own standards that what Reade said is true?

Partisanship comes with a price. The question is, are Democrats ready to pay?
